LITERACY

Practise with purpose.

Ask questions, listen carefully, read story drafts, reflect, and edit.

CONNECTION

Know the people behind the stories.

Discover the experiences a family or community member chooses to share.

MOTIVATION

Create a real keepsake.

Build toward a book for a meaningful audience, with room for drawing and oral participation.

Support for your publishing project

A clear path
from story to book.

  • Ready-to-use questions you can adapt.
  • A personal story collection for each child.
  • A recording page with optional live browser transcription.
  • Editable transcripts, audio playback, and text/audio downloads.
  • Journal writing that connects spoken stories with literacy.
  • A manageable routine for progress and permissions.
  • Book templates and final previews.

We’ll confirm the practical setup and support with your school before the project begins.

Your role

Help establish participating storytellers, school and community approval, and permissions. Set aside a regular classroom check-in and support children with their questions, reflections, and final review.

Students help capture spoken words, review the transcript, copy stories into a journal, illustrate, and prepare a real book. The Elder retains approval over their stories.

Privacy by design

Private projects.
Clear permissions.

Student privacy and storyteller permissions are agreed with the school and participating Nation before recording begins. Use only the approved access and recording arrangements, and obtain separate permission for any wider sharing.

Live browser transcription may send speech to the browser provider’s recognition service. Schools should approve the method before use. Audio-only recording and typing are alternatives. Story capture does not automatically send work to a teacher or publish it.
